YADES
Participation in Andreu World International 2013 in collaboration with Studio Trepan
The furcula ("little fork" in Latin) or wishbone is a forked bone found in birds that works as a strut between the bird’s shoulders and acts like a spring in the pectoral girdle during flight. In Yades, a chair borrows the bird’s bone structure to hold the body in a “flying position”.
The wishbone becomes part of the seating structure that supports the human shoulders and arms while the body is “lifted” above the ground. A wishbone is placed in each side of the seating and in between them a “wooden membrane” is used to support the back.
